Borrowed Ground – a tale inspired by Trinity Triangle…

Writer Robin Pridy was selected, amid stiff competition, to be writer in residence for the Trinity Triangle in 2020-2021.

Robin ran free workshops for local people, researched and listened to neighbourhood stories, and produced a beautiful short story inspired by the neighbourhood.

You can listen to Robin’s podcast, and reading of her story ‘Borrowed Ground’ here.

Robin says, “I am a local writer and I recently wrote a story about Claremont as part of a collection by Historic England that focussed on local living history. I ran workshops and heard fantastic stories about life at the Hastings Observer, the greengrocers and the churches as well as several other shops that came and went. There were anecdotes about exotic fruit and barbers, small fires and games of whist, and I managed to learn a rude song to boot! I’ve written just one small story about this wonderful place, but there are many tales already told that are well worth finding. And I’m convinced there are so many more still to be written.”

The High Street Tales project was funded by Historic England as part of their national ‘High Street Heritage Action Zone’ programme, and it was supported by New Writing South.
