The social spaces programme will improve the public and social spaces within the Heritage Action Zone, making it more attractive and welcoming.  The improvements we fund will support economic development and improve wellbeing

Ideas for improvements

• Replacement for memorial clocktower and improvements to area leading to radial hub
• Improvements to Seafront garden outside Robertson Terrace
• Improvements within the Alley behind Claremont
• Improvements to provide a better draw for visitors to enter Claremont from the seafront

Decision making criteria

• Eligibility (for example location, nature of proposed works, relevant documents supplied, compliance with procurement requirements, etc)
• Demonstration of ability to match fund works
• Maximum impact on heritage, appearance and character of the HAZ area
• Impact on other HAZ objectives – appeal to visitors, economic benefits, community benefits
• Connection to other HAZ projects
• Sustainability of repairs or relevant works
